The ‘required elements’ were a large mast and sail, cabins and a ‘walk the plank’. The ship also included a climbing net, climbing wall, two ladders, a grand figure head and passageways through the cabins.
The ship was constructed using a cost efficient ‘post and panel’ type construction allowing easy installation. Using hardwood posts and marine plywood walls the pirate ship has stood the test of time. Installed in Spring 2007 recent visits to the playground have proved the pirate ship is well able to withstand its extra ordinarily high usage.
The wetpour safety surfacing was installed by sub-contractors and includes a speckled white spray effect at the bow of the ship.
The pirate ship playgrounds can be modified in size, with alternative and or additional play accessories, extra floor motifs such as crocodiles, stepping stones etc.
