Realistic Animal Carvings for Gortin Glen Forest Park

Flights of Fantasy teamed up with Woodcarver Luke Chapman to bring an animal sculpture to Gortin Glen

Gortin Glen Forest Park were looking for an iconic wooden sculpture, that’s representative of the park and an impressive visitor welcome. Flights of Fantasy asked woodcarver Luke Chapman to help them achieve this.

Given the theme, which was “the forest and the things that live therein”, Russell designed a bespoke structure and carving design to create something that would be welcoming and impressive for a visitor to find. The design, which features a deer family and animal carvings shows a glimpse of the local wildlife and their behaviour. Surrounding the deer family are access ramps and steps to create an auditorium for visiting groups. Along with the sculptures, we carved a stream to flow under the deer family and etched animal tracks into the ramps to be identified by the parks visitors.

Below you can see the giant Oak tree section that was turned into a deer family.
