Dragon’s Castle at Knockhatch

We have worked closely for the past two years with our friends down at Knockhatch Adventure Park carrying out several unique projects, none more so than the recent Dragon’s Castle and High wire walkway we have installed…

Our largest play area to date, consuming over 150 tonnes of Larch logs, Sweet Chestnut and Oak, the Dragon’s Castle has no end of play opportunities and new spaces for children, and adults alike, to explore.

After building a strong rapport with the client, we began construction on the strength of a pencil sketch and were still designing the ever-evolving structure whilst construction was under way in order to complete the project within the client’s tight timescale.

Not only did we complete installation with time to spare, but both the client and ourselves are completely captivated by the final outcome.

There are few other companies offering play equipment to this specification around the world, and we are proud of both the size and scale of the project whilst ensuring we maintained our usual highest levels of quality timber and manufacture, and incorporating a boundless amount of play potential for children to enjoy.

Gargoyles peer at you whilst you admire the overhangs, round towers and fairy tale proportions of this very original structure, which has a variety of finishes in Larch, Sweet Chestnut and Cedar. You can imagine being a captive taken in chains to this mysterious castle with its shell keep and central protected main structure.

Try to find your way around, it’s not so easy… and beware of the dungeon where you will find a life size fire breathing dragon, guarding his treasure from all corners.

We are very proud of this structure, and completed something so breath-taking and unique in such a short space of time with impeccable eco-friendly credentials, with all of the materials that we used being FSC or equivalent and, with the exception of the Cedar shingles, being sawn and produced at our own Norfolk sawmill.

The high wire and 70 metre zip wire runs adjacent to the castle and flows seamlessly into the Rapunzel tower where the zipline begins from a platform safely isolated from the play area below.

Two large tube slides return you from the safety of the battlements to the reaches of the dragon’s lair… just stand a while and watch the delight as children discover what excitement and emotions a real castle arouses.
