Kingstone Multi-Play Tower and Play Area

The Kingstone children’s outdoor play area features a multi-play structure as a centre piece.

The Brief: Magnificence in a Rural Setting

The brief was to provide multi-play equipment for a new children’s play area in Kingstone which would be durable, hard wearing, and built to last all that a rural setting – and excitable children – threw at it. The centrepiece for the playground would be an oak – a durable timber – multi-play area with a fort theme.

Overcoming Barriers: Weather Proofing

Set in an open sports field with full public access, the playground equipment had to be robust and durable enough to withstand the elements and inevitable attention of vandals.

Materials & Imagination: Wonderfully Weathered Impressive Stature

The equipment was constructed in robust FSC sawn oak to ensure durability, and to weather beautifully. As intended, more than half a decade after the installation, the wooden play equipment has naturally developed a beautiful grey patina.

The focal point for the playground area is the castle keep with vertical climb net, slide bridge, swing bars, slide pole, entry ramp, and two mock dungeons.

Accessories and Apparatus: Hide and Explore

The play area incorporates a see-through castle play fort built by hand to physically challenge and mentally stimulate the children.

The traditional play accessories are all in-keeping with the castle play theme and whether scrambling down a vertical climb net, scaling a climb wall or speeding down the feature slide, children are left with a feeling of exhilaration and wonder. Additionally the two captivating dungeons, ramp and bridge features all offer fantastic places for children to hide and explore.

The full list of additional accessories for this themed play area project reads as follows:

  • Vertical climb net
  • Slide pole
  • Climb wall
  • Slide
  • Cantilever swing
  • Aerial runway
